Stop Offshoring

It's been four months since I started working with our Philippines team. What seemed so promising at the beginning is now resembling every other failed offshoring effort I've encountered. The Philippines team, while eager, is about a quarter as productive as the local team. As if that wasn't bad enough, I spend an hour or two each day helping them out, answering their questions, and fixing their work. If I had that extra time to work on what they worked on that day, I'd be done, without the extra headache.

I don't care how much cheaper they are than me, it hasn't been worth it. That, in a nutshell, is the problem with every offshoring plan. You think you're saving money, but what you get in return is even less than what you paid.
