Stop Offshoring

In this past week, some U.S. corporate giants announced plans to outsource more jobs to India.

Microsoft to invest $1.7 billion, add 3,000 jobs in India
Intel, J. P. Morgan outsource to India

American workers should be alarmed by these moves not just because it means more jobs going offshore, but the complexity of the jobs as well. Where offshore proponents once argued that only low-level tasks such as answering phones would move to other countries, this week's announcements show that even vital R&D functions are fair game.

What's left for American workers then? Not a whole lot, I'm afraid. Would you like fries with that?

Sadly, the wheels of offshoring keep churning. For example, these articles were all published within the last week.

Wachovia expanding job flow to India
ING Considers Offshoring Jobs To India
Outsource-To-India Sector Still Rolling
ANZ jobs head to India

I suppose this country's corporate managers won't be happy until every American job worth having (except theirs, of course) has been moved to India or some other country.
