I started working with our new offshore team in the Philippines. So far, the biggest disruption has been that we have to move all meetings that involve the team to a late start time in order to accommodate the difference in time zones. It's still too early to tell if the offshore team is any good, or whether they will be a net positive or negative for the company. However, I've found that the language problem hasn't been as significant as previous experiences. Even though folks in India supposedly speak English, I often found their accent to be so strong as to be incomprehensible when talking over the phone. That hasn't been the case with the Philippines thus far.
